Advice on how to control one’s anger

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

One of the things that everybody experiences is anger.  Everyone will lose their cool once in a while. It is just natural. What is bad about it is when they already can’t control their anger.  That is when it can become hurtful to those you love.It can hurt someone emotionally and physically. With that in mind here I present some of the ways to control your anger.

Controlling your anger is not easy.  That is why my anger management counseling practice gets so many people with anger issues. But you can get through it.There are things you can do to control even if it seems like you can do nothing about it.First thing you can do is to admit that you are undergoing stress.Stress can be one cause of anger.By acknowledging the fact that you are stressed you will know what to do when you are getting agitated again.

Another way you can cope with anger is to learn how to respond and not to react.  It is one of the biggest techniques I teach for my family counselor San Diego practice.  What it means is to think about situations rather than instinctively reacting to it.  By being logical and thinking about a situation you are better able to respond. So that your reaction would make the situation better rather than make it worse.

Depression is another cause of anger.  Usually if something depresses someone it can lead to anger. The reason for this is because depressed people feel that they have no hope in life and that they become angry at everything.  I see this all the time doing depression counselor. So you fight this by addressing the situation that is causing depression.

If you follow these few tips it should help you deal with any anger problems. Anger is a hard emotion to control. That is the reason why so many people are being affected by anger management issues.  But by understanding your problems you can begin to fight those emotions.Ans if you can do so you and your loved ones will not be hurt anymore.

Anger and depression-two problematic emotions if excessive

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

One of the things that hurts sometimes or is enjoyable at other times is emotions.Emotions like joy, happiness, love, and others are good for people and good for the health.  Then you have things like anger, sadness, or depression. They are also kinds of emotions but they are harder to carry around and handle.  Most of the times people are able to control it.But there can be situations which make these emotions dangerous.

For example, depression is a tough situation to get out of.It might be due to some tragic event that happened in someone’s life.  Things like the loss of a loved one can trigger it.Or it can be caused by a chemical imbalance of your body.  One dangerous emotion that happened in the news is when a man whose depression turned to anger. His situation is hopeless and that is the reason why his depression became anger. He went on a rampage and hurt some people. That is an isolated and extreme case but it does happen.  That is why as a depression counseling I try to tackle the problem head on before it can turn into anger.

Well, if there are times that it does turn into anger then that is the time that you have to seek another form of counseling.  And that form is anger management San Diego help.Because not like depression where the affected person is always in a passive mood.Anger have the ability to hurt others and can sometimes be fatal.  So if a person is experiencing anger one needs to deal with it immediately before it gets any worse.

Of course in my family counselor San Diego practice I see a full range of emotions.Usually, the cases I see are the ones that are already affecting the family relations.  That is when counseling is appropriate. One thing that you wouldn’t and should not want to happen to your family is let it be ripped apart because of uncontrollable emotons.  And it should be the goal of all family counselors to nip it in the bud.A good and effective counseling will be able to do that and can save family relations.  It has happened time and time again with good counseling.

The reasons behind success and failure in sports

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Sports and getting the success one want is something funny.  You can have a superb athlete who can’t find success. Then you might have someone who is average at best yet becomes super successful. At first look it doesn’t seem explainable.  But upon a closer look you see the main reason for success and failure has been the mind.  But why is that?In this article we are going to examine it a little closer.

So how come the mind is so important in sports?  As a San Diego sports psychology I have been priveleged to see first hand why this is so.First thing you have to realize, the stereotype that thinks of athletes as dumb is far from the truth.Athletes are really some of the smartest people around.  And the most successful ones use are successful because they know how to use the mind.

Funny thing a lot of athletes come in needing my anger managementcounseling practice.Quite a few times the anger begins because they have failures in sports. But what I have been able to do is help people to turn it around.  The way to turn them around is to show them that their failures are in their mind.By learning how to use the mind effectively, they can accomplish great things. It has proven itself over time many times.

Once the athlete is truly able to understand the power their mind has they can achieve success.A lot of the times they are able to have tremendous success. It is similar to how things are in life generally. The mind plays such a big role in the actions and results.I see that it doesn’t just happen with athletes, but it also affects with some families I deal with.  The family therapist San Diego practice I run I have used some of the same principles to help families achieve success.  Success in overcoming whatever family struggles they may be having.  In life and sports a lot of times the key is in your mind.

How anger management helps family life

Monday, September 21st, 2009

One thing that all people have is their emotions. Some people tend to display more of these emotions just like an extrovert.  For some emotions it is good. Some people display emotions such as happiness and excitement and laughter.Other people show anger and sadness more. All people have emotions and they usually express it but sometimes they get out of hand. Anger is one of these emotions.

As you shall see in this article anger can have horrible effects on family life. In my practice doing anger management counseling I have seen the effects it can have on a family. It could make living with the person very uncomfortable. It could make everybody afraid to say the wrong thing. It can turn what is supposed to be a place of safety into a negative place. That place of safety is home life.

It may be surprising but anger sometimes stems from an emotional issue like depression. Whatever the case may be a person might be in a depressed mode. Often times it leads to anger when some problems seem unsolvable or there is no way out. That is why I advice everyone feeling depression to seek a depression counseling. It is best to stop something before it escalates into a bigger problem which is harder to solve. Because sometimes it just does not lead into anger but into something where they eventually hurt themselves.

Either way these two emotions whether they stem from each other have to be dealt with. If you let either of the two emotions get the best of you and do not seek help then it will definitely get worse. It will destroy your relationship with your family. It can destroy relationships.  Being a family counselor in San Diego I stress the importance of good relationships in family life. So I stress to you that any kind of emotional issues be dealt with immediately. Sometimes it is hard to go to someone for help. But often times this can stop anything worse from happening.

Playing much better because of sports psychology

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

One of the unique thing about sports is the mental aspect of the game.We have time and again witnessed athletes talented enough but did not succeed. This is usually because their mental toughness is weak. Most of the times an inferior athlete was able to defeat them because the physically inferior player had a stronger mental attitude. This is the part where sports psychology can be used. It can teach athletes that to reach their maximum potential abilities they have to attain the right state of mind first.

In my San Diego sports psychologist practice I have seen athletes turn around their performance by applying some mental conditioning.A player who was once subpar with his performance was able to raise it to a new level. The result was because of the application of sports psychology.

So there are two ways that psychology can help. One way it can help is through the mental aspect whenever the player is on the court or field.Their concentration and realxation can also be aided by this.

So as part of my San Diego family therapist practice there are many people who come in wanting to reach that peak performance. Their performance has shown a remarkable improvement when the techniques were applied. But there were some cases that were not successful. But the result for themajority of the cases has been successful.

It may seem strange but sports psychology also helps teens. And not necessarily in regards to sports. Tha adolescent years and trying to succeed in sports are somewhat similar with regards to circumstances it provides to teens.  So this has helped teens in my anger management San Diego services as well.

So if you are looking for improved performance sometimes this is what can help. The mental tougness is oftentimes what brings success to a player rather than his/her physical gifts and abilities. You can have the most talented player in the whole world. But if their mental strength is lacking, so will their performance.Mental ability is the top reason why we succeed in life.

Improving in sports with the help of sports psychology

One of the unique thing about sports is the mental aspect of the game.We have witnessed countless times athletes who have enough gifts to succedd in sports but failed miserably. This is usually because their mental toughness is weak.  A lot of the times an inferior athlete was able to beat them due to a stronger mental attitude. This will be the instances when sports psychology comes in. It could teach players the right state of mind needed to achieve the peak of their performance.

In my San Diego sports psychologist practice I have seen athletes turn around their performance by applying some mental conditioning.A player who was once subpar with his performance was able to raise it to a new level. The result was because of the application of sports psychology.

Psychology can help in two ways.It may help the players in the mental part of their performance on the field or court. It is also beneficial in the relaxation and concetration aspects of their game.

So as part of my San Diego family therapist practice there are many people who come in wanting to reach that peak performance. Their performance has shown a remarkable improvement when the techniques were applied.  Now it hasn’t happened in all cases. But the result has been sucessful for most of the cases.

Teens can also be helped by sports psychology although it may seem strange. But not necessarily regarding sports. Tha adolescent years and trying to succeed in sports are somewhat similar with regards to circumstances it provides to teens.  So this has helped teens in my anger management San Diego services as well.

So if you are looking for improved performance sometimes this is what can help.  Because a lot of times it isn’t the athletic ability but the mental ability that will help a person succeed.  You can have the best athlete physically. But if their mental strength is lacking, so will their performance.  Most success in life will be due to mental ability.

Difficult emotions to handle-anger and depression

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Depression and anger are both negative emotions.  But they seemingly are still on opposite ends of the spectrum. One of the two emotions can be be seen by people exhibited by an affected person. And the other one is unnoticeable.

As a family counselor San Diego I have seen both emotions. Both cases need to be attended by an expert if it is already serious. These are issues which one can not just leave alone and hope to go away.In the case of anger you can hurt other people. You can harm yourself when depressed.

Let’s talk about anger first. Anger is an unsteady emotion. It is natural and it happens to all of us.But people sometimes release all their pent up anger.  Sometimes it seems uncontrollable.  And if you let it get away from you, it can be.But those will be the times when you have to control.  Anger can hurt other people physically as well emotionally.  If it gets too much you need to seek some anger management San Diego.

The other one is depression. It may be unnoticed not like anger where it is very obvious when experienced. The main reason is because most people hold in their depression.Of course it can get noticeable. When it does become noticeable, usually it is a sign that someone needs professional help. Why do someone need to seek professional help?  Because a person severly depressed can do harm to themselves.  So it is dangerous because people hide it.  If a person gets to the point of severe depression they need professional help such as depression counselor.

It can be hard on someone to deal with emotional problems. Most of the people affected by these problems think they can solve it on their own.Or they feel like they can solve their problems on their own.  But it is at that point that they need help the most.It is not a problem which they can accept that easily. But if you are dealing with these kinds of emotions which can be dangerous to the patient and others then you have to.

Anger and depression-emotions sometimes hard to handle

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

As people we have been given emotions. We have emotions that are positive.  But we also have negative emotions. In this piece, let’s examine some emotions that can be negative at times.

Why we need to take a look at these two is because they are emotions that could need professional help.We all have had the pleasure of experiencing joys.We all can go through emotions like sadness.  We also at times experience anger as well. But there will be instances when we have our emotions get the best of us.  This is speaking from experience being a family therapist San Diego.

First lets have a look at anger. This is a very dangerous emotion.Everyone has experienced this emotion.  But for a few people it can get the best of them. What I mean when I say get the best of them I mean they may get out of control. They can in some instance take their anger and use violence to express it.  That is why it can be dangerous.  I have seen it go too far too many times doing anger management counseling.  That is when it must be dealt with professionally.Because it has the possibility of harming other people.

The other emotion we may experience is depression.  Doing depression counselor has allowed me to see how this emotion can be dangerous as well. Most of the times this emotion won’t hurt people in a direct way.But this is one of those emotions that can cause harm to one’s self. There are many reasons for it.It could be a chemical imbalance that causes it.Those are the instances when it has to be treated with medicine.Or it might be an event in our lives that cause the depression.Either situation, when there is someone who experiences it, they could need some help.

As you can plainly tell these emotions need to be kept in check.  Whether it is anger or depression they both can cause serious damage.Either to people who are close to you or even yourself. So if you can tell someone may be going through these emotions, they could be in need of some counseling. It is going to be the best for everyone.

Emotional Issues That Need to Be Addressed

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

One of the unique things we experience as humans are emotions. Emotions are a very strong part that makes us human.  Emotions such as love, joy, pain, anger, etc. are very powerful emotions we experience. But a lot of times it is due to the fact that we can get so emotional that it leads us into trouble.

I would like to mention a couple of very charged emotions that may need someone professional to help with. They are depression and anger. Two emotions that are seemingly different are emotions that can cause major problems.  I have seen it first hand as a therapist San Diego.

I say it can lead to major problems because they both can lead to violence. In the problems like anger, it sometimes causes violence to erupt against others. In problems like depression, the violence can end up being directed toward one’s self.

When you are referring to things like anger, it is a very emotionally charged situation. As I said earlier, it is an emotion that has to be taken control of.Because as you probably are already aware, people will do bad things if they are very angry. It does not necessarily need to be physical, it also can come in the form of emotions.  If that is the case you need to address it through anger management San Diego.

Now when talking about depression, this issue is a serious problem as well.  It is dangerous because often times you may never now about it.  I mean you might not know if a loved one is experiencing depression. When something like that happens, horrible things can come about that weren’t expected.  Things like suicide.  I have seen it happen to often as a depression counselor.

If you know you are going through some depression, make sure you treat it quickly.Because before you can even think about it, the situation could have gone too far.Loved ones of yours could even possibly miss it and not be aware of it.When that occurs it may be too late.So find help quickly.  It can be helped.

As you will notice, emotions are in general good things.  But they also can cause problems.By learning how to handle issues and problems, emotions can be of benefit. It matters not how you take care of it, either you or somebody else addresses it, but be sure to take care of it.

Anger Management issues

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

In the life we live we get to feel a large range of emotions.Emotions that are great, and emotions that aren’t so desirable.

Some of the emotions can directly affect your family and your relationships.Sometimes those experiences of emotion can cause problems with jobs or other social interactive occassions.

One of the emotions I need to address is anger.  Specifically using anger managment to control it.

One of the horrible consequences of anger is violence. When you are viewing a movie or tv show when the main character uses the anger to motivate them to fight back and win, it’s nice, but made to look better than it is.

Anger is that noble.  It is an emotion that needs to be handled through an anger management programs.  Because left by itself it can lead to horrible results.

There can be a lot of issues that cause it.Stress in regards to money.  Or it could be problems with relationships.  It could be from many causes.  But one thing for sure.  Anger needs to be managed.  You need to find anger management techniques that will work for you.

Anger could result it simple yelling.Or even worse, if you are involved in a marital relationship it can hurt that relationship.  Sometimes the anger gets so bad that a breakup would be ideal.  But of course there are the times when anger gets so bad it leads to violence. There more than I could count the many cases of domestic violence.

That is why addressing anger is so crucial.By locating techniques and methods of treating this emotion, a lot of problems can be avoided.

Not addressing it could can break ups in relationships.  It can lead to problems at work.it can lead to many social problems. All of these issues can be missed if you use anger managment to control it.

So if you sense these are common issues, seek professional help.Do not let the emotion of anger get the better of you.  Treat it right away.

Whether you do it professionally with a therapist.  Or whether you find some techniques through a book.Treat it.
