Tips on how to capture great wedding snap shots

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

One of the biggest jobs for any wedding is the photographer. That person is given the big job of capturing that special day.Merely taking pictures is not their only responsibility during that special occasion.  But they are also given the job of making it magical.Or at least every photographer should keep that in mind.  So here are some tips to help you make it magical.

First of all as a San Diego photographer one of the best pieces of advice is to try and have the wedding shots during the best lighting. But what is really the best time to take wedding photos. That is arguable.  But most photographers agree if you can take shots early morning it is good.Although it is also good to take shots during late afternoon. In doing so, you will be able to avoid too much sunlight that can affect the quality of your shots. This will enable you to capture quality photographs.

Second as a San Diego wedding photographer, I make sure to know the schedule of events. It is very important to take note of the schedule of events. This enables the photographer to capture as many photos as he would like during the event.A photographer will have the ability to anticipate shots when he has the grasp of the things happening during the wedding. Not only the portrait shots but also the candid ones. Most of the time, candid shots are those that would really reflect the special moments that happened during that day.

Finally doing San Diego photographer you should always be prepared. They should see to it that they bring with them extra films or memory sticks. They must make sure that they carry a spare camera all the time. Anything that is mechanical should have a backup. The worst thing you wouldn’t want to happen as a photographer is when one of your equipments break. It would be terrible to miss taking shots when something breaks. The generel rule is to be always prepared.  If you do that you should have no problems capturing that special day.

Spending less with same quality on your weddding day photographer

One of the most important roles during a wedding is the photographer. You put your trust in them to capture special moments in equally special day.So be sure to choose the right person.  But with most young couples the money aspect of it does play a factor.Unless of course if you are rich and have a lot of money to spare then you should contact the best there is.But if you are like most of the people who are on a limited budget then you should choose wisely.

One of the things I do as a San Diego wedding photographer for all couples is to look at their budget.I do this to help couples decide what packages they can avail from the photographer. Most good photographers should consider the client in mind. Especially with wedding photography.Because most couples will be on a tight budget. So a good photographer should not be getting the most out of his clients pockets.

Of course there are some fantastic photographers in demand. Those photographers have the authority to charge higher.  But you don’t necessarily need that to find a good photographer.Put in mind that all photographers need a start for them to be famous and in demand.  A San Diego photographer would be no different.  There could be some very talented individuals who are just starting who might not be so expensive.

The best way to sort them out is to go to the inexpensive photographers.Look at the ones that you can afford and then you should look at their work. You can tell if a photographer is good by looking at their work.  Remember they could be very good but just starting out.You can get a talented one for lesser costs.

Hope these suggestions can help you find an inexpensive but talented photographer. But remember also that you don’t have to limit yourself to finding wedding photographers.  Just like my company does San Diego photographer, doesn’t mean we don’t do weddings.  You might be able to find a good one in another field of specialty.

Wedding photographers part on that special day

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

One big part of someone’s life is his or her wedding day.Wedding days are usually women’s most special day in their lives. But do not forget that is also a very special day for the groom. That day is special due to a lot of things.A vital part of a wedding that is often overlooked is the photographer.

They have a huge part in making that day special.  I know for a fact from my first hand experience as a San Diego photographer.  Mainly because the photographer’s job is to capture that day. Those moments should be forever captured on a film.  The photos are going to be what brings that day back to life. And only a photograph can capture those memorable events.

What else does a photographer contribute?  They contribute to turning that wedding day into a story.A well planned photo shoot can result to a lively wedding album.Beautifully timed photographs would make a photo album like a beautiful story of two loving persons.Shots that are taken or captured well should be able to tell the events to a person who wasn’t able to attend the wedding just by looking at the pictures.  So with that in mind you need a San Diego wedding photographer who can really accomplish that type of job.  But you also have to realize that is what you want.  Anyone can just take point and click shots. But you want a photographer that has an artistic side to him or her for your pictures to become lively.

A final thing a photographer can do is make it an event.  In my photography practice my work is called event photography, because all occassions should be captured as an event, and a good San Diego photographer service should be able to do that.  Not just simple shots. But shots that seems to be bigger than life.

Now hopefully you can see the importance of a good photographer for that special day.Choose a good photographer who can cover the events very well.  Who can make that day larger than life. Because that day should be special when you come to think of it.

Plan Your Wedding Day Photography

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Most couples making wedding day plans have a lot of things that they do take into consideration. They coordinate the date according to vacation times from work. Or they plan the day according to the best time for family to come into town. Or they make plans according to the availability of the church or restaurant.

But one of the biggest things couples fail to plan for is the photographer. This is no small issue.  And I am not just saying it because I am a wedding photographer

No planning the wedding day with the wedding photographer in mind could mean all the difference in the world. Especially when you think about the fact the photos are going to be the thing that captures that day for a lifetime.

So what are the key factors to consider when planning with the photographer in mind. The date and time.

Let’s start with the time.  How many people want their photographer to rush through the photos? I am pretty certain that most people, couples especially, will not raise their hand to that thought.

Without even considering your photographer, a majority of the times most couples do just that.  They will force the photographer to rush his shots.

How so you ask?  Well a lot of times, the couple will schedule the ceremony for let’s say 1-2 pm.  With the reception starting at 2:30. How many shots can a photographer make when he only has a half hour to work with?  Not many.

Even worse, let’s say he does take all the shots? Do you think they can take some real good shots if they are being rushed?  Of course not.

So plan the wedding times and the receptions accordingly making sure there is ample time to take photos.

The second factor to consider when planning is to check your photographer’s availability.

Most probably don’t realize this, but most good photographers will be booked months in advance. If you do deal with a large photo company, they very well could have several photographers on staff.

Well making wedding plans without thinking about the availability of the photographer could be a nightmare. Because when you reserve that special day, without making sure your photographer is available, come wedding day you might get a shock when you find somebody totally different.

This can happen when dealing with a large photographer company.  You might not realize they have plenty of photographers on staff, and if the photographer you fell in love with is booked, unless you specifically ask, the company might not tell you.  When your wedding day comes, they might just outsource their work or a second rate photographer might show up.

Be prepared that you don’t let something like this happen.Making plans for your wedding day is special.  Make sure you plan it also with your wedding photographer in mind.

Wedding Photography tips

When you are asked to be the one to take photos of the wedding is a huge responsibility. If you’ve been approached to do it as a friend, or maybe asked to do it as a professional, here are 5 great tips to do the job right.

This tips are coming from first hand experience as a San Diego wedding photographer. You could be a seasoned pro, or you could be an amateur, but by following these tips, you will do the job smoothly without second guessing yourself.Doing this you will be fully prepared come what may.

Our first tip is a simple thing you can do and that is to have the couple and the families go and make a shot list. With a day that can be as hectic and chaotic as a wedding day, doing this will help when you are trying to organize all the group and family shots later on in the day.Imagine how wonderful it will be to just go down your list and know that you aren’t leaving anything out.

The second tip on our list is to not delete any shots.  In this day and age of digital cameras, most photographers use them.Great as they are, they might tempt you to delete a shot they may like that you don’t since it is so easy to do.Don’t even think of looking at the shots. What you think may be a great photo, can differ widely in what the couple considers a great photo. You never know, they might like all those so called un “professional shots.

A third tip to consider is making sure you get candid shots.A good photographer isn’t one who just takes the standard basic shots, like family shots, typical wedding shots, or whatever is the usual.  But they will also try and capture the emotions of the day through the shots of all the people that were there. It could include things that don’t go perfectly, like a flower girl not wanting to walk down the aisle or the ring bearer making a wrong turn.Every photo matters.

The fourth piece of advice is make sure you have back up equipment.Do you even want to think of the horror of not being able to take any more shots of the wedding because of a broken camera.Plan for the worst that could go wrong.By being prepared for the worst and bringing extra cameras and equipment you will avoid the horrible moment fo not having any working cameras to capture the rest of the wedding. day.

Lastly, make sure to practice for your lighting. The difference between the lighting in the church and the outside reception can throw you a curve ball, so just practice for all different lighting situations. Think about seeing if you can go to the locations of the big day and look for the best spots to take pictures as well as study the lighting needs.

Doing these 5 tips will help you immensely.  It will prepare you for whatever might go wrong, it will prepare you for capturing what goes right, and it will prepare you to help contribute to this wonderful day by being the best photographer you can be.  Take it from my years of experience as a San Diego photographer.
